Course Offered
Kishorenagar College is affiliated to CHSE, Odisha and Utkal University for +2 Higher Secondary and for +3 Degree Courses, respectively. It is important to note here that the College was initially affiliated to Arts at I.A Level which was, later on, converted to +2 Arts.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
Students passing H.S.C. or equivalent examination are eligible for admission into +2 Arts and +2 Science Streams.
New course structure at +2 Higher Secondary Level has been implemented since 2006-07. Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha vide their office order No.4153/Dtd.01.03.2008 has decided to introduce certain changes in the +2 course structure and scheme of studies from the academic session 2006-07 and this has been concurred by the Govt. vide Order No.14321/III HE-CHSE 10/06 Dtd.27.04.2006.
According to the new course structure there shall be one examination to be conducted by the college at the end of Ist. year on the basis of the curriculum meant for that year and one examination at the end of IInd. year to be conducted by the council on the basis of the curriculum meant for that year alone. Pass certificates will be awarded to successful candidates basing on the performance in the Council Examination to be held at the end of 2nd.year only
The examination at the end of Ist. year shall be for 800 marks(including 100 marks for environmental Education and 100 marks in Yoga) and the examination at the end of IInd. year shall be for 600 marks. Marks secured in the examination to be conducted at the end of Ist. year shall be taken into consideration for promotion of students to the IInd. year class.
Apart from English and MIL, Environmental Education (E.E) and Yoga shall also be a compulsory subject. But Environmental Education will be taught only in the Ist. year and examination for Environmental Education and Yoga will be conducted by the college at the end of the Ist. year.
Restriction on selection of optional(henceforth called as Elective) subject will be the main feature in the new course structure. Each student has to offer four Elective Subjects. Offering a subject as fourth optional is no more in the new course structure.

HIGHER SECONDARY COURSE:
A. +2 Arts Stream: 256 Seats
Compulsory Subjects: English, MIL (Odia/Urdu) and Environmental Education (E.E)
Elective Subjects:
History (256), Political Science (256), Economics (256), Logic(192), Education(128), Oriya( 192)
N.B.: Council may, in special circumstances, permit a candidate to offer Alternative English of Higher standard as MIL in lieu of either Odia or Urdu
B. +2 Science Stream: 128 Seats.
Compulsory Subjects: English, MIL (Odia/Urdu) and Environmental Education (E.E)
In order to acquire a first class Honours with Distinction, a student has to secure 60% marks in aggregate in honours subjects and at least 50% marks in aggregate in other subjects (i.e. Compulsory, Pass and Elective Papers).
In order to acquire a second class Honours with Distinction, a student has to secure 50% or more and less than 60% marks in aggregate in other subjects and 45% marks in aggregate in honours.
A. In each of the above examinations for subjects having practical a candidate in order to secure honours must have secured a minimum of 45% of marks in theory papers and practical papers taken together subject to securing the minimum pass marks in theory and practical papers.
A candidate failing to secure a minimum of 30% in each pass subject and/or a minimum of 40% in each practical paper either in the Ist/IInd or final examination may be allowed to appear in those subjects in not more than TWO chances immediately following that examination for which he/she was first registered to clear the BACK papers. However if a candidate who has not cleared an examination may at his/her option appear in all papers of that
examination in a subsequent chance within 5 years of first registration to First Degree Examination.

ELECTIVE B:-
Landmark in Indian History, Education and Odia.
Each student shall select two elective subjects-one from Elective-A and other from Elective-B subject to the following conditions:-
(A) Indian polity, Indian Economy and Landmark in Indian History cannot be opted as Elective subjects with Hons/Pass in Pol. Science, Economics and History respectively.
(B) A student can opt. for any two elective subjects- one from Elective A and other from Elective B with Pass/Hons. in Odia and Pass in Philosophy & Education.
All the subjects mentioned in Honours are also treated as Pass Subjects (Except English)
(C) Each Elective subject consist of two papers- each carrying 100 marks. A Pass student shall opt. for one paper from Elective-A in Part-I and other in Part-II while an Honours student shall Opt. both papers in Part-I.
RESTRICTIONS:
(a) A student admitted to Honours shall not take any Pass Subject.
(b) English shall not be opted as an elective subject.
N.B.: Students having passed +2 Science are also eligible for admission into +3 Arts Stream.
